Digital Atlanta Gears up for 2011 Kick-off, Social Media Atlanta Changes Name; Returns with Expanded Programming

Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) October 29, 2011

Digital Atlanta 2011, the Southeast?s premier social media and interactive conference, announces its return with a world-class roster of speakers, hands-on workshops and expanded programming. Formerly called Social Media Atlanta, the conference will take place Nov 7-11th and now includes over 60 individually ticketed events at various locations in the metro area. Nearly 2,000 digital enthusiasts– including executives, artists, entrepreneurs, educators, civic and non-profit leaders– are expected to converge on the city for networking and insightful discussions on the rapidly changing world of digital media.

Now in its second year, Digital Atlanta will kick off at the historic Fox Theater with a keynote address by Ted Wright, the brainchild behind reviving Pabst Blue Ribbon and founder of Fizz Corp., an Atlanta-based word-of-mouth marketing agency. Opening night festivities will celebrate the achievements of new media and digital pioneers who call Atlanta home. Tickets can be purchased at TicketAlternative.com http://bit.ly/uydkBF on a first come first serve basis.

?As one of the most wired cities in the U.S., Atlanta is ahead of the digital media curve– especially when it comes to using social platforms like Facebook and Twitter,? said Bert DuMars, Digital Atlanta founder and Vice President of e-Business & Interactive Marketing, Newell Rubbermaid. ?The new name ?Digital Atlanta? better reflects our goal to create conversations, spark innovation and leverage digital media to connect in meaningful ways.?

Throughout the week, attendees can participate in a diverse mix of tracks (ranging from beginner to advanced level) that will be led by digital experts from Fortune 500s, high-tech start-ups and agencies. Session topics include, but are not limited to:

????Digital Media for Artists: This track is ideal for business execs in film, music and entertainment, as well as independent artists who need to promote creative products and brands.
????Faith & Culture: Social media is now an integral part of outreach for faith-based organizations. This track will explore how churches, synagogues and other religious groups can make authentic connections online.
????Non-Profits: In the face of shrinking donations, many non-profits must do more with less. This track will address the special needs of organizations that depend on grassroots awareness, volunteers, and contributions to succeed.
????Sustainability: Explore ways to bolster a commitment to sustainability by using digital tools to address the need to ?go green? and build an actionable network.

Tracks will also cover developments in gaming, design, education, multicultural, and mobile media. For a full schedule and event descriptions, visit http://digitalatlanta2011.sched.org/

?After an amazing first year, we are thrilled to offer an expanded list of tracks that appeal to a wider range of attendees,? said Stephanie Frost, Director of Programming for Digital Atlanta. ?Digital media is fast becoming such an integral part of our personal and professional lives, it?s only fitting to include sessions that showcase its depth and breadth.?
