Don Braden and Karl Latham Release Big Fun(k) Live

New York, NY (PRWEB) April 24, 2012

Big Fun(k) Live is a mosaic of different musical influences and styles led by tenor saxophone all-star Don Braden and internationally-known percussionist Karl Latham. Having worked with legends such as Wynton Marsalis, Johnny Winter, Freddie Hubbard, Roy Haynes, Tony Williams and Bill Cosby, both Braden and Latham are masters at creatively and passionately expressing themselves in any genre they choose. In fact, Braden is known primarily in the modern Jazz world, but revisits his roots (he cut his teeth playing in funk and rock bands in the 1970?s) on this outing. With Gary Foote (Blood, Sweat and Tears) assisting Latham in the groove section, Big Fun(k) Live has a strong musical backbone, perfect for Braden and keyboardist Nick Rolfe (Lizz Wright, Nona Hendryx) to weave their sparkling melodies, intriguing harmonies and dazzling improvisations. This all-star cast of musicians brings a wide variety of influences together and creates a genre-traversing album that will have something for everyone.

Big Fun(k) Live?s first track, ?High Rise,? fuses elements mainly of Funk and Contemporary Jazz. It begins with a heavy slap bass that is soon joined by Braden?s soaring saxophone, which fits into the rhythm seamlessly and leads into a powerful extended jam. The track ends with Latham accompanied by the group in an impressive drum solo. ?A Foote in the Door,” the third track on Big Fun(k) Live, dons a more groove-oriented theme, which contrasts perfectly with the smooth periodic Jazz breakdowns. The soloists reveal remarkable improvisational skill while still maintaining a hard groove throughout. A surprising rendition of the Beatles? ?Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds,” arguably the album?s most appealing track, uses the familiar melody but blends styles that may seem foreign to most Beatles fans. Most notable for its Jazz and Soul/Gospel approach, ?Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds? also includes jam sections dominated by Funk elements.

Big Fun(k) is Don Braden (Tenor Saxophone & Alto Flute), Karl Latham (Drums), Nick Rolfe (Keyboards), and Gary Foote (Bass). The album was recorded live at Cecil?s Jazz Club in West Orange, New Jersey with Christopher Coleman and Don Braden as the Live Engineers.

Meteor Redefines Humanity in New Fantasy Novel

Granby, CT (PRWEB) April 21, 2012

Mother-son co-authors Dan and Karen Stanhope deliver a tale of triumph, teaching lessons of acceptance and forgiveness in their new fantasy novel ?Skycat and Sword: Jadan’s Rise and Revenge? (published by iUniverse).

A meteor crashes to Earth in 2020, setting off a massive chain reaction of disasters. Lava spews as some mountains are leveled and new mountains are born. Oceans dry into deserts even as continents disappear under melting polar caps. Whole species vanish and new species are born. A concentrated burst of radiation has a radical effect on all of Earth?s life forms.

Flash forward 4,000 years to the story of Prince Jadan, a 9-year-old boy studying the Great Crash with his tutor. In these lessons, Jadan is taught the difference between his own race, Fusor, and the half-human race called Cabal. He learns the strengths and weaknesses of the Mutant warrior race, never dreaming just how critical these lessons will be for him.

Jadan is forced to escape a marauding Mutant army after his father is killed and his birthright is stolen. Hiding in the forest, Jadan is befriended by a Cabal ? half-man, half-spider ? who teaches him survival techniques. Thought dead by the rest of the world, Jadan returns as a teenager to unite his kingdom against Mutant warlords and half-humans. But first, he must prove himself worthy.

Like any good fantasy writers, Dan and Karen hope to impart real-world lessons to readers while whisking them away to an imaginative world. ?The overall theme of ?Skycat and Sword? is that, although external forces may shape people, we are essentially the same,? says Karen.

About the Author

Dan Stanhope and his mother, Karen Stanhope, started writing ?Skycat and Sword? when Dan was in intermediate school. Dan now attends college, where he enjoys off-roading when not in classes. Karen also coauthored ?God Is Alive!,? a book of true inspirational stories by the Pilgrim Covenant Church of Granby, Connecticut. The Stanhope family includes Dan?s father, Guy; his brothers, Barret and Jesse; and their dogs, Tutter and Shadow.

AlanAction.com and Sugardaddyforme.com Team up to Produce an Outrageous NYC Expo and Sugar Daddy Dance Party that Highlights Business Meeting Pleasure, April 23,2012

New York, NY (PRWEB) April 19, 2012

On April 23, 2012, at 7 p.m. Internationally Recognized Party Planner. Alan ?Action? Schneider and 3 million member Sugar Daddy Dating Website, Sugardaddyforme.com the largest Sugar Daddy Dating Website in the world, have teamed up for a very unique event, that pairs up vendor companies, Beautiful and Empowered Women 21-39, with successful and established men, 30 and over, for an evening of Networking, Dancing, Romancing, and relationship building.

The latest party is slated for Monday April 23, 2012, at 7 p.m. at the Hudson Terrace, a dual roof top venue located at 621 West 46th Street. The event is coined, ?The Spring Fling Be Your Own Boss Event.? Tickets for ladies are $ 50.00 and tickets for men are $ 100.00, at SugarDaddyEvent.com.

These parties, the brain child of Alan?Action? Schneider began over two years ago, and have gained momentum, popularity, and attendance exponentially, with each successive party. So far, Alan Action has had 18 of these events at such venues as Merchants, New York, the New Copacabana, and The Hudson Terrace, and the latest parties have had over 700 people in attendance, with the ratio of women to men at 2 to 1.

The main reasons for the parties? increase in popularity according to Alan Action, is that the uniqueness of the Event, combining Vendor booths in the beginning of the party, club and live music in the heart of the party, and attendees that generally want to meet each other in a romantic and fun context for substantial mutually beneficial relationships, really doesn?t happen anywhere in New York.

Most networking events, according to Alan Action, are somewhat boring, and lack a sexy element to keep attendees interested. The “Sugar Daddy Event Series” boasts about really having something for everyone. This latest event features 12 Vendor booths with everything from Beauty Care vendors, A Cigar Company, two Banks, a new line of lingerie, photographers and production companies, limo companies, marketing printing and design companies, multi-leveled marketing companies, Plastic Surgeons, and even two liquor company sponsors.

Music is provided by two live DJ?s on a dual level rooftop, and gourmet food and deserts are supplied throughout the evening. Wherever, the attendees turn, there is something always to do, and the event is both uniquely exciting and informative and fun. Business relationships are secured, networking is achieved, and romantic relationships are developed. It?s a positive Networking Event that gives men of means a chance of meeting, greeting, and networking with attractive and empowered women that want to be pampered, enriched, and revered, in almost a throwback to traditional values. Party organizer Alan Action has indicated that sales of the tickets for the upcoming event, on April 23, 2012, have been selling briskly and that interested attendees should log on to sugardaddyevent.com to get their tickets.

New Biography Explores Ronald Reagan?s Mental State

Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) April 17, 2012

As Republican primaries lead up to the presidential election this November, the name Ronald Reagan is surely going to come up many times. Republicans ? and even some

Democrats ? look to Reagan as a historic example of how the United States can reverse its economic misfortunes. Taking a much different point of view of Reagan than other biographers, Lawrence Nesbitt delivers his new book, ?What Reagan Couldn?t Tell Us? (published by iUniverse), a meticulous assessment of the former president?s psychological state of mind.

In researching Ronald Reagan?s life, Nesbitt uncovered a common thread in the materials he sifted through. As he explains, biographers, journalists and former Reagan associates see many anomalies and contradictions in his nature and confess complete befuddlement as to how his mind seemed to work. ?What Reagan Couldn?t Tell Us? is Nesbitt?s explanation of the simple psychological key to understanding Reagan?s mind and actions. He peers into his entire life, exploring the ??controlling role his mindset played in his youth, his Hollywood career, his years as governor and as president.

?The predominant theme of my book contradicts virtually all other Reagan biographies (making it highly controversial),? explains Nesbitt. ?Other writers agree that he was the most amiable and honorable of men, but intellectually impossible to understand. My book refutes that mental inexplicability.?

A detailed examination of Reagan?s psychological state throughout his life, ?What Reagan Couldn?t Tell Us? presents an array of sources and historical support. It is a revealing study which Nesbitt hopes will illuminate the discussions of this significant president and give readers what Nesbitt calls ??a more accurate understanding of our 40th president.?

About the Author

Lawrence Nesbitt earned his degrees at Tennessee University. After college he spent three decades teaching psychology at Blayton College in Atlanta, and was published in such periodicals as Psychology Today. A psychological counselor until 2005, he has since retired to travel, write and play tennis.

Escondido Humane Society Installs DOGTV for Shelter Dogs

(PRWEB) April 13, 2012

SAN DIEGO: Escondido Humane Society has become the first animal shelter in San Diego County to install DOGTV for live viewing by dogs.

Last month, the North County shelter began showing DOGTV, television created for dogs, on several screens mounted in the facility. During its first month using the scientifically developed television for dogs, Escondido Humane Society has seen a marked improvement in all of the dogs who have been exposed to DOGTV, according to Sally Costello, executive director of Escondido Humane Society. She reported that higher-energy dogs, which were once showing signs of anxiety, are now exhibiting positive development and calmer behavior, including vocalizing less and resting more.

Caring for more than 5,000 animals a year, and with a current total of 115 dogs on-site, Escondido Humane Society provides animal care, adoption, education and protection services for north inland San Diego County. An open-door shelter, Escondido Humane Society partnered with DOGTV to provide an outlet of calm to the anxious dogs hosted in the behavior evaluation and adoption kennels. According to Costello, dogs tend to show more signs of stress in an unfamiliar environment, and the TV for dogs has facilitated calm for these pups, providing recognizable landscapes and imagery to focus on.????

The first programming of its kind, DOGTV meets a dog?s typical daily cycle and helps prevent mental fatigue, depression and boredom. The television for dogs is scientifically developed to reduce stress, add pleasure and improve a dog?s development, and produced in strict accordance with dogs? unique sense of sight, hearing, and movement detection. For example, the psychoacoustic music and “relaxation” content in the television for dogs can decrease stress of sheltered dogs, making them calmer, happier and potentially more adoptable.

According to Dr. Nicholas H. Dodman, BVMS, MRCVS, a veterinarian specializing in animal behavior, dogs suffer from separation anxiety, even depression, when left alone. To address this angst, 61 percent of dog owners in the United States heed the recommendation from the Humane Society of the United States to, “keep a radio or television on in the house so dogs can hear comforting voices and not just silence.” Now, recent findings demonstrate that canines not only enjoy TV for dogs, but also have a clear preference for content created specifically for canines.

?DOGTV provides a new and promising tool to help enrich the environments of our canine companions,? said Dr. Patrick Melese, DVM, MA, DACVB, a board certified veterinary behaviorist with Veterinary Behavior Consultants based in San Diego. ?This is especially true for dogs left home alone since it gives them an attractive distraction to watch and listen to rather than worry about when their beloved people will return. The programming can also help expose dogs to sounds such as doorbells and vacuum cleaners in a gentle manner that could help prevent them from overreacting when they encounter these noises around the home. San Diego pet owners are fortunate to be the first to have access to this unique dog-friendly television programming.?

Additionally, with Queen?s University Belfast, Dr. Deborah Wells and Lynne Graham conducted a study of the influence of visual stimulation on the behavior of dogs housed in a rescue shelter. By monitoring 50 dogs in a shelter, they found that ?the behavior of kenneled dogs is influenced by visual stimulation in the form of television programs.? Another research study conducted by Dr. Wells titled ?The Influence of auditory stimulation on the behavior of dogs housed in a rescue shelter,? found that ?certain types of auditory stimulation may be beneficial for the animals? welfare.? Both studies are testament that DOGTV is a benefit for sheltered dogs and support the results seen at Escondido Humane Society within the last month.

Costello, says the television for dogs is definitely helping decrease the anxiety of its shelter dogs. ?We heard about DOGTV and we jumped at the chance. The first afternoon we turned it on, we were surprised that the dogs immediately sat down and watched it. And it was quiet and calm,? said Costello. ?This gives them something to focus on, and de-stress. It?s been a great experience for us. We really hoped that this would add something and it has. We are so pleased with it.?

About DOGTV

DOGTV is the first television network for dogs. DOGTV programming content is organized into relaxing, stimulating, and behavior-improving segments that work together to provide balance for the daily cycle of “stay-at-home” pups. DOGTV?s revolutionary content is designed for a dog?s visual, auditory, and emotional sensibility. For more information, visit: http://www.dogtv.com

Snellville, GA (PRWEB) April 09, 2012

Allie Grainger, investigative reporter, is back in the newest novel in the ?LIVE? series. (ISBN 9781591462637, Crystal Dreams, 2012).

Rand Arbutten, an attorney, has many reasons to hate his father. When it?s discovered that Rand?s mother was killed with the Sheriff?s old service revolver, and that Rand?s parents were in the middle of a nasty divorce, the pieces seem to fall into place to support Rand?s case. Meanwhile, his father is asked to step down from being sheriff and risks losing everything, including his freedom.

But Sheriff Cord is not completely without friends. Investigative reporter Allie Grainger gets involved when her best friend, Sheryl, a Sheriff?s Deputy, begs her to help. Rand decides to stop her, either through anger or personal charm. So when Rand suddenly agrees to work with her, Allie begins to question his motives?and her own ability not to get emotionally involved and swayed from finding out the truth.

But seeking the truth is not enough when others have their own agendas. While Rand wants his father proven guilty to satisfy his own desires for revenge, Deputy Sidney Finch wants to stop Allie?s investigation because he idolizes the Sheriff. Finch is not above making naked threats, and since he carries a gun and has an easily triggered temper, plus was Allie and Sheryl?s childhood nemesis, Allie needs to take him seriously.

Lovers of ?LIVE Ringer,? the first book in Fitzgerald?s ?LIVE? series, will not be disappointed by this second installment filled with quirky characters, suspense, a Florida atmosphere, and a peeling away of layers to reveal the secrets of human nature.
