Indie Rock Band Bucks Big Budget Trend, Brings Toys to Life in Music Video

Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) February 16, 2012

When LA-based indie rock band, The Remainers, were faced with translating their hit song “House” into the visual medium, they had some decisions to make. The band was approached by a number of talented directors, both aspiring and established, to work on the project. Whereas most artists hire on a professional director and production team to articulate their desired vision, the quartet took a more do-it-yourself approach. Using their own childhood toys with the assistance of modern software, they created a stop motion animation video of toys coming to life.

It took 10 weeks and over 2500 individual photographs to compile enough footage to accompany the 3 minute, 26 second song. Some days, 6 hours of shooting would yield only 11 seconds of actual film. “It was frustrating at times,” says Jason Lautenschleger, bassist for the band. “I would definitely do it again. Just give me a couple of months off.”

The hard work and heart the band put into making the video was not lost on those who saw it first. Adam Levine, lead singer of Maroon 5 and current coach on NBC’s The Voice, immediately gushed over the video on Twitter. “My dear dear friends in The Remainers have made a totally radical video for their awesome song ‘House’.” He then included a link to the video, found here on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_lRbrT05l8Y

The video has also been featured as a nostalgic gem on the popular website HelloGiggles.com. Viewer comments call the video heart-warming and joyful. The band could not be more thrilled by the response, citing their favorite comments as “those who call out the toys they played with as kids.”

The Remainers have been playing together since 2009. They have a 6-song EP called Formal Fridays which is available at all major online retailers.

Great Entertainment, Activities Highlight Third Annual BransonFest Out West in Mesquite, Nev. 80 Miles North of Las Vegas

Mesquite, Nev. (PRWEB) February 14, 2012

A fascinating assemblage of musical talent known as BransonFest Out West at the CasaBlanca Resort is in the books. The third annual gathering Feb. 6-8 80 miles north of Las Vegas featured great entertainment and activities along with record attendance.

In what must be termed one of the most wholesome three days of the year in Mesquite, BransonFest Out West continued to evolve from an idea four years ago to a blockbuster program drawing fans from several states.

The followers came from as far away as Canada journeying the long distance in buses to enjoy the weather, hospitality and affordability of Mesquite, which is situated about 80 miles north of Las Vegas. As of the last estimate, each of the Western states was represented.

Finding positive responses wasn?t difficult during a non-stop three day scheduled that included everything from line dance classes to a session called ?Find Your Soul Mate and Make New Friends? to three nights of entertainment that drew nearly 3,000 appreciative fans.

?This is a great event,? said Larry Rosenberg, a resident of Medford, Ore., who represents Clint Ingbretson, a solo entertainer who performed the music of Kenny Rogers and Willie Nelson. ?It?s absolutely amazing. We?re excited to be here and really look forward to coming back in the future. This is very real entertainment that will bring tears to your eyes.?

Rosenberg?s wife, Carol, was equally as impressed with BransonFest.

?We were blown away with the event,? said Mrs. Rosenberg. ?The comedian (known as Harley Worthit) had us laughing so hard that our sides were hurting. This has definitely been more fun than Vegas.?

Worthit, a colorful character who hails from Branson, Mo., wore several eye-catching outfits during the three days and literally kept the crowds in stitches.

?I took a roll of toilet paper to the crap table,? Worthit told the audience during one performance. ?I also got a call from my wife who was in Vegas. She wanted to know how to get back on (Interstate) 215, so I told her she needed to eat more salads.?

Don Widdows, an energetic 80 year-old from Barstow, Calif., was attending BransonFest Out West for the first time.

?We love it,? said Widdows. I have been to Branson several times and this was great.?

Pauline Siembag, 83, added ?It was wonderful. These are good entertainers.?

Judy Hutchins of Marysville, Wash. was a first-time visitor and you can bet she will be back considering her immediate response.

?It?s just very wholesome music,? Hutchins said.

The entertainers seemed to love journeying to Mesquite as evidenced by Rich Vickers, who doubles as a master of ceremony and an Elvis Tribute Artist.

?Nobody treats us as good as the CasaBlanca,? he told the crowd on the final night. We are already in the process of planning to return next year.?

The line dancing class was taught by Surprise, Ariz. resident Jon Levant; whose class was so popular that the only problem was that the dance floor was too small to accommodate the throng.

?This has been a great event,? said Levant adding that the enthusiasm for the line dance class was excellent.

Tour coordinator Gordon Bartlett and his wife, Patty, brought a strong contingent from Lake Havasu, Ariz.

?I am really impressed,? said Bartlett adding that his company was in its 20th year. ?We brought 49 people and sold out quickly for BransonFest.?

Mesquite Mayor Mark Wier agreed that BransonFest had created a great following.

?We need to do more things like this in Mesquite,? Wier said. ?This was my first time, and it was wonderful.?

Event coordinator Sue Arko, who owns Free Spirit Vacations and Events in Gilbert, Ariz., was beaming after the final show although she was undoubtedly exhausted after presenting the extravaganza.

?This was our best year for BransonFest Out West,? said Arko, an energetic promoter who presents a similar event called Winter Break each year in Laughlin south of Las Vegas. ?I know what my clients want and the following of this year?s event is proof that we responded favorably.

?There are so many wonderful stories that come out of both Winter Break and BransonFest,? Arko added. ?For instance, one couple met in the Congo line and came back married the next year. Additionally, one guest from Chicago said events like this added five years to his life.?

Arko took an interesting look back at the creation of BransonFest.

?(Mesquite Gaming executives) Ann Sunstrum and Petra Jones came down to visit me at Winter Break several years ago,? Arko said. ?They saw the value of what was taking place in Laughlin and capitalized with BransonFest Out West.

?This is only going to get bigger,? Arko said. ?Next year?s event is tentatively scheduled for Feb. 4-7. We?re not sure of our entertainment, but I can guarantee you that it?ll be excellent.

?We are already in the process of taking this to an all new level.?

LiveOne Wins Prestigious Midem International Startup Competition

Chicago, Illinois (PRWEB) February 10, 2012

Chicago-based LiveOne Group received top honors for its Crowdsurfing application last week in Cannes, France from the music industry?s premiere startup competition, MIDEMlab. The contest is held as part of the annual Midem conference, the music industry’s largest international trade event, and has been a launching pad for some of the industry?s leading technology companies.

LiveOne was one of just three companies worldwide to receive a top award, and the only American company, winning for Marketing and Social Engagement. “We?re incredibly proud to win the MIDEM award,” said Tim Ganschow, principal and a founder of LiveOne. “There were some exceptional companies competing in our category, so to be selected from that group as the music industry?s best new marketing and social engagement initiative is a big honor.?

?This year the MIDEMlab theme was about reaching, engaging and monetizing audiences,? said Anne de Kerckhove, director of Reed MIDEM’s entertainment division. ?One of the most important things we do at Midem is encourage new companies. We literally had hundreds of applications from around the world from the most innovative startups.?

Ten finalists in each of three categories were invited to Midem. All had either a music focus or had technologies that were of use to the music industry. The finalists then presented to a panel of judges comprised of venture capital firms, marketing heads of global businesses, journalists and leading entrepreneurs.

LiveOne was announced as the winner of the Marketing and Social Engagement category by Gilles Babinet, Chairman of France?s National Digital Council, during the conference?s ?Visionary Monday? event. The other winners were UK-based MPme for Music Discovery, Recommendation and Creation, and Finland’s Wild Chords for Direct-to-Consumer Sales and Content Monetization.

?We?re really impressed every year with the quality, and this year is no exception,? said MIDEM?s Kerckhove. ?Some of the names that have come through the MIDEMlab include Soundcloud, the Echo Nest, Songkick, Next Big Sound, Jammbox, Root Music and Kickstarter. These companies are fundamentally changing how music is being done now and they all started their global career here at Midem.?

“For our first trip to Midem, we couldn’t have expected any more,” said LiveOne?s Ganschow. ?We met some great people and it?s a major affirmation of our strategy. The MIDEM prize has accelerated our immediate plans and generated some very interesting opportunities that we had not envisioned at this early stage. So 2012 is shaping up to be a big year for us.?

MIDEMlab?s 2012 winners join an impressive roster of previous recipients. Last year?s winners include Root Music, whose BandPage app is a leading Facebook marketing platform for artists and which recently raised $ 16 million in venture capital; Next Big Sound, which recently raised a $ 6.5 million round and whose CEO, Alex White, was named by Forbes as one of Music?s ?30 under 30;? and Jambox, whose Discovr music app went to #1 in Japan?s app store.

CUMAR Marble & Granite Hosts Reception for Thank Your Mentor Day

Boston, MA (PRWEB) February 02, 2012

Cumar, the industry?s premier natural stone fabricator & supplier, celebrated Thank Your Mentor Day with musical mentor, Grammy Award Winner Patti Austin and special guests. Industry leaders from the Music, Legal, and Design business communities gathered to celebrate and raise awareness of the impact of mentoring both cross-culturally & cross-generationally. Design New England and The Over My Shoulder Foundation created and inspired the Design Industries prestigious MIDDIE (Mentors in Design) award for its first presentation in 2011. Mitchell Gold Bob Williams showroom in Boston?s Back Bay was the perfect setting to gather and have the special guests present their unique mentoring stories.

Dave Connor, general manager of CUMAR Marble & Granite, spoke to the group about the importance of mentoring in the Design industry. ?We created the MIDDIE awards to recognize design professionals who share their time, expertise and wisdom with upcoming generations of designers. It is through a personal commitment and focus on others that the magic occurs?, said Connor, ?We are putting forth the challenge and call for nominations for the 2012 MIDDIES today!?

In the stone world, mentoring is the only way that the special craftsmanship has been able to live on from generation to generation. Cumar?s founder and owner Angelo “Ivo” Cubi is a 7th generation stone artist from Verona, Italy whose passion for his art has brought him international recognition. His daughter Carlotta is the 8th generation and is the comptroller for the company. She is soon to be bringing G-9 (the 9th generation) into the family. Ivo?s stone creations can be seen in the most luxurious homes, office buildings and hotels on the East Coast.

Mentoring happens every second at Cumar under the watchful and caring eye of Ivo and managers. Young apprentices start as assistants and move quickly within the company. Ivo’s infectious spirit and pride in the company translates into a family of diligent employees who stand proudly behind every creation that is made at their facility in Everett, MA.

The emcee for the evening was Boston?s own Candy O?Terry of Magic 106.7 who spoke of her special role as both mentor and mentee with many women in the Boston business world. Says Candy, ?I have one motto to live by??you get what you give!?

Rick Dyer, Newton Attorney, told his story of treacherous beginnings in the streets of Boston where he lived with crime, drug addiction, incarceration, and despair and how several mentors in his life provided the hope and ability to overcome. Ultimately with a pardon from then Governor Michael Dukakis, Mr. Dyer was able to become a member of the Massachusetts Bar. Now a passionate attorney in the Metro-Boston community, he gives back as a mentor to many people seeking assistance toward a path of recovery.

Patti Austin concluded the evening presentation with a surprise $ 10,000 scholarship given to one of her local mentees, Santana Roberts. Santana has been working with Patti for the last 5 ? years and was just accepted to the Berklee College of Music. Mentored by some of the greatest performers and producers in the Music business her mentoring is extensive and extends to many new talents. What many in attendance at this special event learned is Patti is currently a mentee in the Design Industry with some of our very own local talent serving as her mentors.

Everything seems to come full circle in many people?s lives. In Mentoring it is a natural full circle that brings all involved an incredible sense of satisfaction and purpose. Connor continued, ?The emotional energy in the room was electric throughout all of the mentoring presentations. CUMAR is looking forward to its next event later this spring that will continue the Designing the Next Generation and overall mentoring message of? helping those who need a helping hand?.?

As one of Patti?s most influential mentors, Quincy Jones, once said, ?We are successful only when we give back.? Take the time to be a mentor. It can be an incredible path to success.

McCann E-Investigations Houston Computer Forensics Division Releases Article – 25 Ways ?Cheaters? Hide Their Affair on an iPhone

Houston, TX (PRWEB) February 02, 2012

McCann E-Investigations(McCann EI) Houston Computer Forensics Division announces publication of article ? 25 Ways Cheaters Hide their Affair on an iPhone. Mobile devices would be key in communications between an unfaithful spouse or significant other. Technology has created mobile devices that are essentially gateways for information (internet) and communication (email, social media, texting, etc.). iPhones in particular are used by many consumers as their smartphone of choice. iPhones are in essence, hand-held computers ? similar to a laptop or PC. As with all computers, digital evidence of infidelity is logged and stored. Even if the texts, pictures or emails were deleted, they are often recoverable with the right tools.

?Knowing the ways in which an affair can be hidden can be key in discovering the affair and catching the cheater red handed.? said Dan Weiss, Partner at McCann E-Investigations.?

The 25 ways in which to hide the digital evidence of an illicit affair are as follows:

1.????Create a new email account that is only used to communicate with their lover.

2.????Check their email communications with their lover through webmail and not iPhone email.

3.????Doesn?t save or have their iPhone remember their password or email address/log-in name for their communications with their lover.

4.????Delete links or “bookmark” to any web mail page used to communicate with their lover.

5.????Change their wireless phone bill to ?paperless billing? to hide communications with their lover.

6.????Use 3rd party app for SMS / text messages so text does not show up on phone bill or online detail.

7.????Save name of lover as false name and gender so calls to / from that person are less suspicious.

8.????Use 3rd party dialer like Skype or Google voice to make and receive phone calls so they will not show up on phone bill or online usage detail.

9.????If using iPhone email to send / receive email, they can go to Settings -> Mail -> Account to enable mail for their lover when they want to check it, then disable mail when they are done so that account won’t show up in their list of mail accounts or “All Inboxes”, but it will still retain their settings and emails.

10.????Disable location services to make it more difficult to be tracked. With location services enabled, certain web sites and apps can determine their location and pictures they take on their iPhone will have the GPS coordinate information embedded in them which can show that they are not where they said they were.

11.????Clearing their map/GPS history and directions history for locations they are going to with or meeting their lover.

12.????Closing all web page tabs for web sites relating to their lover as soon as they are done with the page.

13.????Clearing their internet history and cache for web sites they visited for their lover.

14.????Clearing their call history for calls made to and from their lover as well as the calls made to the hotels, restaurants, travel agents, yacht rentals, etc.

15.????Clearing their text/SMS history with their lover. If their lover is their spouse’s best friend or other person that they would be expected to have casual contact with the iPhone lets they selectively delete specific text messages.

16.????Use their iPhone calendar to set up fake work-related or other non-suspicious appointments or meetings to give they an alibi to meet their lover

17.????Use one of the many iPhone apps like “Fake Caller” to simulate an incoming call from their boss or co-worker where they will need to meet they at the same location where their lover will happen to be

18.????Having their pass code set on their iPhone so if it falls into the wrong hands their phone will be locked and their information will be more secure.

19.????Having their pass code set to auto-lock after a specified time.

20.????Having their pass code ?Erase Data? feature enabled which will erase their iPhone data if the wrong pass code is entered 10 times in a row.

21.????If they sync their iPhone to their computer or use iTunes to transfer music to their iPhone, they can encrypt the iPhone backups that iTunes creates.

22.????They can turn off the auto-preview for text messages, otherwise the content of the message or inappropriate pictures could show up on top of their passcode screen.
